After a long day of work there’s nothing like relaxing with a cold pint in the comfort of your own basement. It seems like a lot of work, but in all actuality you’d be surprised at home simple creating your own bar can be. Follow these simple steps help make the bar of your dreams a reality.
If You Build It…
To start you’re going to need to decide what type of bar you’d like in your home. You basically have two options; a permanent bar or a free standing bar. A permanent bar would need to be installed professionally and would become a permanent fixture in your home. This can be an expensive and time consuming process. Free standing bars are a more inexpensive alternative and usually offer additional storage for barware and bottles.
Please Seat Yourself…
Quality pub seating will definitely help accent your bar, regardless of the style bar stool you choose. High quality bar stools come in a variety of materials, colors, and styles that can be tailored to match your existing bar furniture and décor. Just make sure they are at the proper height in relation to your bar top for maximum comfort.
Chillin’…
In addition to your kegerator, invest in a mini fridge for your bar. Certain drinks need to be served chilled. While spirits can be stored at room temperature, the same cannot be said of bottled beer, some wines, champagne and of course sodas for the kids. In order to properly enjoy your libations, you must have the ability to store your beverages at their proper temperatures to help insure optimum freshness and taste.
Its All Fun and Games…
Add some fun and games to your home bar. Games like darts, foosball, air hockey, and even billiard tables can turn your home bar into a combination home bar and game room. You have the option of either investing in high quality full size tables or to save money you could pick up a table top game table or even a combination table. If you’re short on room, then a combination billiard, table tennis, air hockey table can be a great use of space.
Finishing Touches
Every bar needs some signage and other wall décor. These accents will help give your home bar some much needed character. Vintage or neon signs, posters, tap handles and coasters help give your bar a more traditional feel. Most of these products can be purchased online – try sites like ebay or craigslist – or maybe even from your local watering hole.
These few accessories – maybe a fresh coat of paint – and your new pub will be complete. Add some great homebrew and a few friends and you might prefer to just stay home most nights – think of all the money you’ll save!
